I'm stuck it seems with the Sky router as I need the voip line.
so after finding out I need to use some ad ridden app to do some basic config it seems wake on lan doesn't work.
on my tp link vr2800 i seem to remember having to put a fixed entry in the arp table to get it working.
ive put a reserved ip for the pcs mac in the sky box and port forwarded port 9. It worked about once then stopped working.
ive got a no ip sub which uses another device to update my host name with the correct external ip.

I think the sky box might be forgetting the arp entry for the pc, probably it clears its arp after a certain amount of time.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@AdamK5 there are very limited configurations on the white Sky hub as you have found. I assume you are trying to wake your PC remotely? If you have set up port forwarding and you have a suitable app like team viewer or remote desktop that is the limit. Forget editing ARP tables etc that is simply not possible.
One thing you can try is to connect your TP-Link router to the Sky hub and use that in a Double NAT set up. You can place the TP-Link in the Sky hub's DMZ which bypasses its firewall. That set up works for most apps and does keep the digital voice line.

Could you elaborate on the setup please.
i can't turn off dhcp on the sky hub so assume that is left doing the ip assignments for other equipment? The cctv stuff I've got is working after putting port forwards in the sky hub.
are you essentially saying plug the sky hub into the ont then a cat 5 from one hub port to my tp link and set the sky hub to DMZ? How do I stop the DMZ reaching other pcs plugged into the tplink? I'm not sure the tplink has a wan port as it's an adsl router modem. Vr2800.

Just checked and it does have a wan port.

@Chrisee would I then connect the wan port of the tplink to the sky hub and setup the wan port as ppoe or something?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@AdamK5 yup simply connect the two there is no need to authorise the connection .

@Chrisee not working. the tplink gets internet but it seems to change the ip range it uses. so if i set the sky hub to 172.16 range the tp will pick 192.168 range. so i tried putting the sky hub on default 192.168 range then put the dhcp on the vr2800 to 172.16 range which is what the pc that i want to wake is using. i have interent but the port 9 stuff doesnt seem to be routed. sky hub set to route port 9 to vr2800 then vr2800 set to forward to pc.
ive got the sky hub wan connected to the ont then one port connected to the wan port of the vr2800.

@Chrisee just looking through the VR2800 settings i have quite a few options. DHCP relay and also NAT on off and full NAT clone.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@AdamK5 the Sky hub will assign an address in its IP range 102.168.0.x which your router will see as its WAN address. To save confusiin it is an idea to use a different internal address range for your network's LAN the choice of which range is up to you but 192.168.1. X is a safe choice.
Leave your own router in its default settings only change options if you have an issue and understand what they each do. As i posted there is no authentication required between the Sky hub and your router.

@Chrisee I've ended up abandoning my wake on lan quest. No matter what setup I try it doesn't work. I'm guessing it's not passing the port 9 traffic accross the double Nat.
ive returned the vr2800 to standard switch mode and using the sky hub as the main dhcp network switch.
i strongly suggest Sky offer a proper router experience even if it's hidden behind a user requested option that can be enabled.
ill be looking to move isps as soon as I can.
