Hi, we have upgraded to sky full fibre. Original broadband main entry point/box has and is always been in my sons bedroom. Nightmare for WiFi for rest of house (old Victorian house with thick walls) as door closed and room 'busy'. Engineer coming to fit external box and told it HAS to be run to that room. Is this absolute?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@3strikes no way of knowing as the decision will be based on the site and podtion of the feed which I presume is from an overhead pole. However the position of the external connection box does not always dictate the internal position of the ONT unit. The engineer fitting the ONT shoukd normally ask where you want that and the hub to be placed as will try to do as you ask assuming the pigtail cable they use is long enough.
If the ONT is placed in your son's room the Sky hub does not have to be close to it as you can use a longer Ethernet cable to place the hub in a better location
