Can I use an extra Sky Broadband Router as a Sky Booster?

Hi There,

So, I've been with Sky for 2 years now. Actually enjoying the gigabyte internet. But we have 2 offices in the house. One inside and one outside. However, they are both at extremes to the router box. Now I was on to sky about this and we got a booster box for one of them. Works fantastic witha noticable, getting the expected speeds.

I've tried ordering a 2nd booster box for the other office. But Sky have sent me another Route box by accident. I've tried to ring them twice, but the customer service is absolutely terrible. I'm not trying to be rude here, but there is a language barrier and the people I keep getting through to don actually know what I'm talking about when I mention a booster box. They keep trying to tell me how to see up the router, even though I'm trying to send back the router they sent me. After 3 attempts of this I've just had to hang up because the hour wait times between asking for someone with good english is eating into my days.

What I really just want to know is if there is a way that I cna use the accidental routewr box I got and convert into an Access Point/Booster box?

@CCGambit Here is the link to all off sky's equipment, may make it easier if you mention to them what you need! Not easy to set up a second sky Hub as a AP which wired is better, wireless you may as well forget that!

Info on what is allowed below so watch what you say!

The 2nd and 3rd are via a sky Engineer visit to see both yes if needed and why one is just not doing it, so if your home is covered now by your first then you are not getting any more!

@CCGambit Sky will not provide a second booster for any room not within the main property under the Sky WiFi Max package.  Thst might be why there is confusion.

In practice the best solution assuming there isnt an Ethernet feed to your second office is to buy a Powerline networking kit that uses the mains cabling to carry the data. You can buy these with built in WiFi access points if you need WiFi as well as an Ethernet port for a laptop or PC. These work reasonabbly well assuming the office is wired from the same consumer unit as the main house. Always use wall sockets for the adapters and expect roughly 30% of the rated output in practice.
