Broadband upgrade

Broadband really slow. Tried to upgrade to full fibre but engineer came out and said he couldn't do it as he couldn't get it to where it will go i.e to nearest plug. Now paying for broadband which is terrible and gone worse since the visit, anyway this can be resolved as I am still wanting full fibre

Not unless you sort out the power supply issue: that isn't within the remit of either the installer or the ISP.

Re: Broadband upgrade

But they installed old router and broadband in same location no issue, now I'm to get an electrician to come and put plug sockets in the hall under stairs for nearest point is this right ? Why can't it just be put where the old one has been put ?

Because full fibre by definition involves installing a new optical circuit which then needs a powered Optical Network Terminal (ONT) alongside the powered router: that's why they specify a twin power socket.

Alternatively you could consider providing a single power point at the ONT location and source a long ethernet cable to run through to a different place for the router.

Re: Broadband upgrade

There are twin socket supply's everywhere including where existing fitting broadband was installed the question I don't understand is why I need another one putting under the stairs, why can't it just go where the incoming cable for router is ? Or to any of the other twin sockets located around the house

Presumably that's a copper 'phone' cable, which is irrelevant to FTTP.  Without knowing the specifics of your property it's not really possible for anyone here to second-guess where or how a fibre installer might want to get the new connection inside the building.

I would observe that under stairs is rarely a useful place for a router to go, though.
