Apologies if these are dumb questions, really not very technical when it comes to broadband. My current Sky contract is due for renewal and I was considering upgrading to either the 145mb ultrafast or the 500mb ultrafast plus. I have sky q 2tb with 3 mini boxes and one of the white booster boxes. Is it worth me going for the 500mb, or will the mini boxes just slow the wifi down anyway so it would be pointless going for anything higher than the 145mb? I know wifi is slower than direct connection to router, I just want to make sure I'm not paying for something I can't actually use to it's full potential. The other option is switch to BT complete wifi with their discs, but I have my doubts it would play nicely with the sky q mesh network.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Pob17 potentially the wifi hotspots provided by your Q minis offer up to 600Mb/s but that depends on the speed of their connection back to the hub more typically you should see 200Mb/s but thst is highly dependant on the layout and construction of your home.
The maiin gain of higher Ultrafast speeds is more users can connect and get fast cinnections at once. Few apps can use the full bandwidth on their own even fewer actually need high speeds for example streaming UHD video can only use up to 35Mb/s. Therefore the product speed you need is a personal decision based on your households usage pattern.

During a recent visit by the Sky Broadband Tech Expert, a call to the team "support guru" referred to a list of actual throughput capacity of all Q products which suggested minis are only capable of 150Mbps.
