Re: Broadband renewals

Im in the same boat , ive had issues with broadband speed/wifi speeds for a long time..knowing my contract was coming to and end i rang sky before the automatic renewel ..long story short..had engineer sent out to check the internal line/ set up/external line down the road no issue into the house, hub less than a meter from the socket signal drops ..ive done all requested (line speed tests /unplug/leave for 2 hrs/plug back in/new hub sent out /set up /no change/the person who was dealing with my issue was brilliant tbh hes called me back 2 x a week for passed 2 weeks the sunday due a callback between 10-11am no call received message sent they would try again 6-7pm no call  checked online in messages to find the complant had been closed with 10 digit number so rang them to ask why?..had open reach out again down the road and an engineer in this morning  to see what he could do ..still no change, i rang sky again this afternoon (different person to the one dealing with my issue up till now )he has my account infront of him i presume so can see what has been tried..so he tried to push the new wifi max ..saying he can save me money on my sky tv package//on hold 3x because he tried but the person who was dealing with my issue already did this for me (i am a diamond member 25 yrs) weve had a virgin leaflet in the door last week think i need to walk away from sky broadband ..

Realistically Virgin can deliver service on its private cable network that any Openreach client ISP can struggle to match over ageing copper circuits: conversely Openreach FTTP is distinctly superior to Virgin co-ax.

It's also important to note that the increase in Virgin renewal pricing at the end of the initial contract period is famously steep.
