Re: Broadband poor for 3 months
Hi all,
I've experienced the same issue, i'm on Sky gigafast fibre and for the most part it's been fine 500+ Mb/s connectivity via WiFi to mobile devices. Recently though, especially this month (December 2024), I've been getting speeds of 20Mbps. Sky won't take into account third party speed test site data and only view speeds between the router and local telephone exchange (which is normal).
On 24/09/2024, Ookla reported on my mobile phone (iPhone 14 Pro Max) via WiFi : -
DOWNLOAD - 544Mbps
UPLOAD - 109Mbps
Today 23/12/2024, Ookla reported on my mobile phone (iPhone 14 Pro Max) via WiFi : -
DOWNLOAD - 20.4Mbps
UPLOAD - 21.9Mbps
I spoke to a Sky Broadband representative today and was told everything they could see was fine. I begged to differ as the results are simply polar opposites. I remarked, I'm paying for a Ferrari but getting a Ford Fiesta.
If my service doesn't improve, I am going to have to consider taking my business elsewhere as the speeds I am seeing as the end user are no where near Sky's minimum advertised speed of 600Mbps for my package.
Sky could not explain why there is such a massive swing in speeds... My household hasn't grown any more, no one but myself really games heavily online, there isn't any new devices connected etc. It's very frustrating and I feel for the representatives who have to listen to us complain.
