Broadband not reaching upstairs bedrooms!

Hi, I'm a carer to my seriously ill sister. She is hypersensitive, suffers from Fibromyalgia, ME, a neurological disorder and is electromagnetic sensitive. I cannot have the router near her, it causes her ears to ring, her head to buzz and for her head to feel like it's going to pop. The booster has the same effect, and also gives my mum sever headaches. What options do Sky have to boost Internet (when I'm paying for gigafast) and my sister is bedbound in an upstairs bedroom. I can't have a booster and I can't move the router. Are there any other options? What do I do here? She's not able to do anything. At my wits end, I've already been to BT, they're rubbish, and we switched from Virgin Media. Completely stuck and reaching out for advice. I've been told the router can't be moved, and the TV which would act as a booster is right below her so cannot be used as a booster either. Desperately seeking help 😔

I think you're going to need to look at sourcing your own wired options: given you're already on the fastest FTTP there's nothing any ISP could do externally to 'boost Internet' within the property which doesn't involve WiFi.

The least intrusive option is (non-WiFi)  Powerline adapters but these will inevitably have a (very small) EMF signature.

If this is likely to be a long-term situation then I'd suggest looking at commissioning an ethernet cabling installation at the address from a local network installer or other competent person, because that can be entirely passive at the far end of each cable (although the device it's plugged into obviously won't be).

Gigafast has to be FTTP and so the router can be relocated much further away from the ONT by using a longer ethernet cable.  You could even enclose the ONT in a Faraday cage and then have the Hub with no WiFi active if you wish (although that's not going to help WiFi-only client devices like phones and tablets)

@DC91

From the sounds of it going to ethernet is your only option because relocating the router would surely result in the same problem as having a booster nearby?
