Hi
Im building a garden room 20 metres from my house and wondered what I needed (cable, access point and mini box) in order to get the best frommmy sky broadband, have WiFi and use an additional mini box. Do i need a certain type of access point for it to work? Can I buy it from Sky? Can I purchase an additional mini box? Will Sky Q work and how do I ensure everything is on the same network? All answers much appreciated.

Other than that you would look at purchasing a 3rd party access point instead.

Thank you, the plan is to run a cat 6 cable, is a Sky booster better than a Wireless access point? How does the main Sky box talk to a Wireless access point and mini box in the garden?

Find out moreNo a Sky booster is not better than a 3rd party option in terms of performance or customization, however it will provide a seamless mesh for your devices so its whatever your priority is. The main Sky router will talk to either a Sky booster via the Cat6 cable or a 3rd party access point via the Cat6 cable. This will then allow you to connect a Sky Q mini box to either the Sky booster or 3rd party AP and it will be able to talk to your main Sky Q box via the router.

Thank you. Would the mini box in the garden room need to be cabled from the WAP or would it work wirelessely? do you also have any recommendations for a good WAP for a Garden room, requirements are to run laptop, phone, PS5 and Sky Mini box. Appreciate your help.

You could get a dedicated AP such as a Ubiquiti device or just buy an Asus router/mesh node and run it in AP mode.
