Re: Broadband drops every night from around midnight

Hi, I had the same issue when I switched from a Sky router to the new one.

It went on for about a week... my connection would always cut out at 2 a.m. and wouldn’t come back until the morning. The app never showed any problems, so I assumed it might be maintenance, but it still wouldn’t reconnect on its own. I had to reset the router every time. I even thought it might be a security setting, but everything was set up correctly.

If you haven’t tried this: when I swapped routers, I kept using the old grey cable instead of the new black one that came in the box because they looked the same. I eventually decided to try changing it over.

I still had the issue that evening, but ever since switching the cable, it’s been working perfectly. No dropouts at all, and that was a few months ago.

Sounds silly, but that ended up fixing it for me

Have you checked you are not in eco mode of your settings. This was happening to me and I found it was in eco mode which meant it reduced signal 2-6 am

Re: Broadband drops every night from around midnight

We have started to have the same issue for the last 10 days. Cancelled sky tv package in October and just kept superfast broadband. Internet now goes down after midnight and returns at different times of the morning. New router sent and open reach attended and installed new bt box. Still having the same issues. When completing service checker sky suggest upgrading to sky fibre. Internet works perfectly once back and goes down when not being used. Second open reach visit this week planned. We do not feel very Sky VIP!

sky team have been good so far but let's see if it continues. They seem confused themselves unless they do not share what they know.

@Bear20 partial fibre connections are far less reliable than full fibre as sending data over a copper phone line which can be decades old exposed to the weather using high frequency carriers is prone to many issues especially in bad weather. On the other hand using a new passive optical fibre systems is  in comparison child's play. Its up to you but I know which I prefer.
