Broadband being consistently rubbish recently

Hi

My WiFi has been consistently unreliable for over a week now. It's either really slow or drops in and out, and is effecting both TV streaming and the most basic internet use in any other device .

I have the speed guarantee but whenever doing a service check it says that there's no outages and my hub is fine etc. So not sure how I'm meant to prove the issue to sky because there definitely is one . I've tried the trouble shooting and restarting. Nothing seems to be fixing it

Attaching a screenshot of my router stats hoping someone can offer some solutions. Thank you !

Thanks for your reply and translating what my router stats mean!

I've been with sky for a while now and it's never been this bad - the connection dropping in and out making it basically useless yet my service status in the app telling me it's all good doesn't make any sense.

Is there nothing above the fibre on demand ie vdsl are you in a rural area

Your stats show 1 drop but looks like you resetting the hub or turning it off

How many times a day is the internet light going amber or off

Re: Broadband being consistently rubbish recently

@cookiemonsteruk Thanks for your insight on this.

I'm inner city London, the total opposite of rural! But for some reason this neighbourhood is really limited in broadband options.  I have been with Sky for a while now though, and it is usually fine.

The drop you noticed was probably me going through the online troubleshooting for the umpteenth time and restarting the router.

Part of the problem is that it isn't showing amber - it all looks as if it's connected, showing green.  The app service checker will say everything is all good. But the reality will be that it just isn't working  so I don't know what to do about it.

Re: Broadband being consistently rubbish recently

@PS35 Is it the actual connection that is dropping or is it the WiFi connection on any devices. As mentioned, the connection appears to be stable so it has to be something else.

Typically that's because there's been historic opposition to Openreach deployment of the green street cabinets required for FFTC, and FTTP rollout is inherently complicated by the need to dig busy roads and pavements.

Where the client device makes it possible, consider using ethernet cable rather than WiFi.

Re: Broadband being consistently rubbish recently

Exactly the same happening to my boss. It's been over a month now and still no resolution. Going round in circles, have rebooted, been given new booster box and had an engineer round. When they left it worked for about a day then back to cutting out in middle of calls(You have to wait forever for an engineer) customer service on most occasion rubbish and plain rude. Even good ones tell you to do the troubleshooting again. Very frustrating, it might say speed good but it isn't because it's dropping out every 5 seconds. There must be an issue with cables or something to do with the lines being changed?? I'm with a different provider I'm am entirely different area and ever since I changed from sky (which was overpriced and awful) connection has been intermittent with my TV's! Changing to full fibre tomorrow and all of a sudden tonight I have no phone line connection so whole thing gone down! Nothing been touched inside home! Can't help but think there's something happening we don't know about!! Paying for sod all!
