The first thing to check is this link to see if there are any outages in your area, it can be a bit slow at picking up issues so if nothing shows perhaps try it again later:
https://www.sky.com/servicechecker

If nothing shows then try this line test:
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/broadband-diagnostic-start

You can also run the test via the MySky app on a mobile data connection.

After this has finished and if it reports back all is good click on broadband to run an updated test. If you get amber or red please follow the on screen instructions.

Re: Broadband and sky

I'm having the same problem. I have used the checker every time, but it just says it is ok. It obviously can't do the check if I'm not able to go online because the broadband is down!

The service checker doesn't necessarily disclose a problem immediately and there can be an hours delay before it picks up a lost connection which is why on here we tend to advise on trying it again later.

The checker looks for outages in

your area as it will not pick up in issue with your line only which is why you need to run the line test which can pick up on such faults.

Re: Broadband and sky

It's still dropping off. Yesterday it went down 7 times. Yet I do the checks and they say my broadband is good, it will do won't it if it is working when I do the checking. It's only down for a minute or two, but if we are watching the tv, then the SkyQ box drops down and then we lose connection. Actually when I first do the checks, it tells me that there is a problem with the SkyQ box, but of course it doesn't do anything about that in the check. Waste of time really, just have to accept that Sky isn't any better than the rest of them. Going with Fibre now, yes we have got it connected at last. I thought that being with fibre is better than the copper wire, it isn't that much better, only thing is the faster speed. But it's the reliability that is the most imported thing that people want.

Generally speaking, fibre is hugely more reliable than an old copper pair connection. Individually of course there can be issues. although going off this forum, most issues are to do with internal wifi. I bit the bullet and got a future proof mesh system (although I note that TP-Link have just announced a wifi 8 device 😠 ) so that regardless of the ISP in use I can just swap in another router and ditch the ISP wifi.
