Broadband Speed

According to the various broadband speed check websites including Openreach the speed that I should expect to see at my house is 1600Mb. So I upgraded my speed to the fastest that Sky provide and I can only get around 600 -700Mb

Really in this day and age providers should be able to deliver the speed that they say and not provide the lower guarantee speed

Below is an extract from the email from Sky when placing my order:

Services and equipment:
Services: Sky Full Fibre Gigafast
Equipment:
Speeds of the internet service and remedies:
Download speeds: Normally Available: 930.0Mbps; Max: 930.0Mbps; Min: 780.0Mbps

As you can see it says min 780Mb but when checking using the sky service checker it now says my minimum guarantee speed is 600Mb - why?

I pay for a service which I expect to be provided with.

Sky does not offer any broadband product above 'Gigabit' : if you are seeing 700Mbs then that's what you have.

Currently only EE is reselling a 1600Mbs product, and has to retrofit a specialist ONT and Hub to do so: the standard units used by both Openreach and their client ISPs have ethernet ports with a maximum speed of 1000Mbs.

Re: Broadband Speed

Hi,

My issue is that SKY state that my broadband speed should up at the top end of 930Mbps as my property is able to handle 1600Mbps (which I know I can't get with SKY):
Download speeds: Normally Available: 930.0Mbps; Max: 930.0Mbps; Min: 780.0Mbps

But then they change the minimum speed to 600Mbps that is a big decline

The Guaranteed Minimum Download Speed for the Gigafast product has been 600Mbs since launch in April 2022, according to the Sky press release at the time.
