Broadband Issues

Hi, my broadband has been well below expected speeds for around 10 days now.  I've just done a broadband test and it said I need to book an engineer to fix an external problem.

I've recently been looking at getting a full fibre package as it's cheaper than what I'm paying now (as well as being way faster)

My question is is it worth getting an engineer out to fix my current problem or if I upgrade my broadband package and  when sky comes out to install that,can they fix the problem at the same time?

Just wondering if it's something they can do in 1 trip.

Thanks

Re: Broadband Issues

@MarkM86 If FF is available and sky will let you upgrade, then that would be the correct and better way to do it!

By definition FTTP uses a completely different circuit to FTTC, so any current issues with the copper become entirely irrelevant.

Re: Broadband Issues

Ah right,I didn't realise my current issues wouldn't affect full fibre.

I can't get full fibre installed till Wednesday at the earliest,but can get an engineer here tomorrow to fix my problem. The internet light on my hub is flashing orange so I'll get it looked at or I'll be without internet till Wednesday.

Thank you both for your help

@MarkM86

Installing FTTP requires running an optical connection into the property and then attaching the Sky Hub directly to the Optical Network Terminal: existing copper becomes redundant.  As long as the issue is there rather than in local wireless conditions it should disappear entirely.
