Hi all
Got my broadband router being delivered with my sky glass on the 13/10 however the text I received was that my broadband will be activated on the 20/10. Said that it will be activated remotely
Is there any chance I can get it activated on the 13th? The sky internet and glass will just be sat there until that day!

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@LukeH97 Broadband activation has a minimum lead date of 10 working days, it can't be brought forward for any reason as Openreach won't do that.

Oh your joking!
The previous person who moves out on the 12th has just recently cancelled her sky broadband
When I spoke to the sky employee he said they will use the current line that is currently available so that open reach won't have to come out do their bit and then come back out?

If the service was with Sky they can't simply transfer the account to another customer.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@LukeH97 the delay does sound odd but the broadband market is strictky regulated to prevent abuse. The 10 day delay is partially there because Openreach need to schedule an engineer to make the switch. However the main reason is a requirement set by Ofcom to give time to prevent "slamming" switching service providers without consent.
Although the idea that if customer A bought from Sky it requires to no work if customer B moves in and orders the same service sounds likely it is not what happens. When Customer A service is "ceased" by Openreach the line becomes available for a new order from any ISP. If you as customer B order from Sky they place an order on Openreach for a new service. If it was simpler/quicker to order from the same ISP as the previous resident that would distort competition and is therefore not allowed.

As I've noted in numerous posts, it's really unfortunate that Sky don't make the typical lead time for broadband clearer, particularly as they make a big thing about the rapid delivery of Glass/Stream hardware.

Thank you everyone for the comments I understand it a lot more now
I suppose it is what it is and I'll just have to use my mobile data on sky go instead 😁
Least it will give me a while to sort out things round the house 😁
Thank you all
