Bring BroadBand activation date forward
Hi,
I am switching from Virgin Media to Sky and Virgin have already cancelled our Broadband and TV, so we are without both.
Is there any way of bringing our activation date with Sky forward?

Re: Bring BroadBand activation date forward
I have tried a couple of times but been on hold for a fair while and have had to hang up as doing things with the kids.
Thanks though

Re: Bring BroadBand activation date forward
@Porter84 The date you've been given by Sky will be the earliest the Network operator is able to connect you, calling Sly won't get you an earlier appointment.
When ordering a broadband service using the Openreach network there is a minimum of 10 working days required which does not include weekends and bank holidays.

Please note I only provide help on the main forums and not via PM, PM's are switched off.

Re: Bring BroadBand activation date forward
@Porter84 What activation date were you given especially coming from VM which is a complete different technology system, hope that you have/had an openreach service before?

Re: Bring BroadBand activation date forward
Annoyingly, my contract with Virgin was meant to end 28th and original activation date with Sky was 28th - which they have now changed to 6th May.
Virgin are saying that because I gave them more than 30 days notice they have to disconnect us on the 30th day and if we want to reconnect we have to pay an extra fee and also wait 72 hours.
We had open reach ready when we moved in as it is a New build, so know it is good to go etc

Re: Bring BroadBand activation date forward
@Porter84 Did you use the OTS option by only allowing sky to control the complete switch over, sounds like you did it the old method and cancelled it by yourself.?
What service have you ordered from Sky to replace the Virgin, a lot can happen when you are away from a service for a time.

Re: Bring BroadBand activation date forward
Unfortunately I did do it the old fashioned way as usually negotiate a good deal to stay with them but their retention offer was ridiculous and they were rather rude.
I did say at the time though that I didn't want to renew at the end of the contract.

Re: Bring BroadBand activation date forward
@Porter84 You know what your options are, IF sky have done and setup it is now in the hands of OR to make the connection good at your property, and sky to then setup your service, you just hope that you have no further delay's SKY/OR, it is not good to NOT have the overlap off service.
