Hello
Is there a way for me to set the Sky broadband router to prevent a particular device from accessing the internet? I'd like to learn to do it manually if possible, and not use Shield or Buddy.
Thanks all.

if the sky box will allow it, you can change to ony allowing certain mac address (machine adress is unique to a device network card), but this means logging into your router everytime you want to allow or remove it, so not really ideal.
(actually i just llooked through the sky hub features, and tacces by mac address is not part of the features, so you'd have to buy a commercial router, eg netgear or lynksys)
sorry, i appreciate it doesnt really help, but routers arent designed to be anger management tools 🙂

Probably best to change the wifi password so only devices you want to connect can connect

Enter 192.168.0.1 into the address bar of a browser
On the right click on
Change wifi password and sign in
Username admin
Password sky or wifi password
And change to something you will remember or write it down somewhere

Thanks for the info Cookiemonster. Unfortunately, that won't work because I just need to block one device every now and again (i.e. when my son loses his temper playing his PS games).

Find out more@dasisa although the solution in the post above will work most kids will get round it in seconds by simply changing the IP address their device is using. If they dont how to do it themselves most kids over about 8 will have a friend who can tell them.
In practice even if the Sky hub has mac filtering that can be go round on most devices by spoofing a different address so is not much better. On some devices you can install third party parental control software. However the 100% effective parental control system doesn't exist.
