Re: Blink sync module goes offline at same time every night

Hi @gerry+trouse

Sadly I never found a way round it, I eventually installed a second access point to my home for phones/laptops/tablets and connected the Sync module to that. It's been perfect ever since, so I'm fairly certain it's something the sky hub is doing.

Probably not the answer you were looking for but it fixed it for me!

kind regards.

Re: Blink sync module goes offline at same time every night

I'm having the same issue with my blink system, it goes offline around the same time every night around 3 am. Tried resetting sync module and deleting and reinstalling cameras but didn't work. Didn't have this problem with BT internet.

Re: Blink sync module goes offline at same time every night

Hi all.

I see this post has been ongoing for a couple of years and I too am having the same issue!

It's only just started happening in the last couple of weeks but every night around 3.30am my blink sync module goes offline and none of the cameras can be accessed? I have 2 blink Minis, one wireless blink indoor and one wireless blink outdoor.

I see some of the posts refer to Sky system eco modes etc but why is it just happening now, and not before!

Hopefully someone from Sky can respond!??

Cheers

@Tracyp1970 Sky staff rarely post in the forum and the vast majority of posts are from customers but many of us do know a lot about how the kit works.

.Most likely explanation is previously your device was previously connecting to the hub which does not have any standby mode but now has connected to a Q box. You cannot control which unit a device connects to usually it us whichever has a stronger wifi signal. It is very simple to fix simply chanecthe standby option on the closest TV box to Active or None.

This problem is nothing specific to Sky broadband or Sky Q.

The dropout problem with the Sync module has been around for some years and happens with any router, mesh system or ISP around the world.

Not aware from the cctv and IOT kit forums I have followed that there has been any way to fix it.

Re: Blink sync module goes offline at same time every night

How do I do that?

Sorry, being a bit dumb 🙄🙄

Do you mean the Sky Q box or the TV

Re: Blink sync module goes offline at same time every night

Ah ha, found it in settings - changed it to 'active' for now and we'll see what that does 🤞

Thanks for your help

Re: Blink sync module goes offline at same time every night

I have had my blink cameras installed for nearly 4 years and I never had this issue until I moved from BT to Sky Broadband at the end of August. I also have an Eero mesh  system and so don't actually use the Sky WiFi.   The Eero devices along with all other network devices were power cycled to ensure that they picked up the new Sky network up address and gateway etc.

Re: Blink sync module goes offline at same time every night

I had this exact same issue when I moved the Blink hub from my office (which was inches from the main Sky router) to another room where it was right next to a Sky mini box. When I was up very late one night I got the usual message and could see that the mini Sky Box had a red light on so was in eco mode. Changing the setting made it work..

The funny thing was needing to move the Blink hub. I tried this as a new outdoor cam was a long distance from the hub, but had decent wifi as it was close to a mini box. But, it had but very poor connection to the Blink hub. I'm not sure why moving the hub closer helped, but it did.

Re: Blink sync module goes offline at same time every night

I had several intersting issues with Blink after moving from a BT Router to the Sky Router.  The only thing that changed was the router,  which uses the private Ip range 192.168.0.xxx rather than the BT 192.168.1.xxx. (all my WiFi was running through an eero mesh Wifi network and I had disabled the Sky WiFi  same as on the BT Hub).   I also changed the eco mode setting on the Sky boxes and this cured the offline every night (this issue didn't happen with the BT router.

The second thing that started happening was that the blink cameras stopped connecting t he the blink receivers (I have 2 for different zones).  after testing lots of combinations including putting the Blink devices on a seperate guest network where they worked perfectly, I did some further investigations and discovered that if I unplugged the ethernet connected sky boxes then the problem resolved its self.  When the Sky Q and Mini were originally installed, they would not work over my WiFi and so I connected them via ethernet.  I  reenabled the Sky WiFi and  connected the Sky Q and Mini to the Sky Wifi (only 2 devices) and everything now works. eero support did suggest that as the SkyQ was connected directly into the Sky Router and the Sky Mini was connected after the eero master, that this could have caused the issue.

Re: Blink sync module goes offline at same time every night

Mine does exactly the same at 02:30 every morning. I've had my Sky tested in the past, been told there's an issue which was supposedly fixed, but the Blink still disconnects. Might be a Blink issue...

@Kat-C 2.30am is the time when the automatic line montoring system in the FTTC cabinet will drop the line for a few seconds if the line paramters require adjustment so it could be that.

Re: Blink sync module goes offline at same time every night

I have had several issues over the last year since I have had Sky Broadband, but they appear to be resolved now after several weeks of testing. This is what I found.
1)  My home network is a mixture of ethernet and Wifi

2) I was not using the Sky Router WiFi as I have an eero Mesh WiFi installed

3) In addition to having the Blink Devices go offline at 2:30, I also started to experience that the cameras could not connect to the Blink Modules.

4) Sky Q (Main) and SkyQ (Mini) were connected via ethernet

After lots of messing around and limited support from Blink, but great support from eero, I discovered, that the Sky Q (main) was sending lots of DHCP requests and because the Master eero device was connected by ethernet between the 2 Sky Q devices.

I resolved my issues, by doing the follwoing
1) Enabled the Sky WiFi (Seperate SSIDand connected the 2 Sky devices to that WiFi. No other devices connected to it)

2)  All other devices are connected to either the eero Wifi or Ethernet.
All devices are seen on the Sky Router as this is the DHCP service because the Sky Router cnnot just be a modem.

Hope that this helps people.

Re: Blink sync module goes offline at same time every night

Hi All,

im having the exact same issue as some on here, had blink for a couple of years and had no issues, recently say approx last 12 weeks every morning at 03.30 the blink gives a message in the morning when i get up saying it went off line.

we've changed the stand by setting in sky to off but its made no difference. If anyone who's had this problem managed to solve it without leaving sky can they tell me how they fixed it please? Thank you

Re: Blink sync module goes offline at same time every night

You mean that eco mode has been turned off? This was the issue for me, at exactly 3am I seem to recall. The Sky mini would just go into a deep sleep mode.
