Following my previous post regarding the WiFi not being able to allocate the IP address I am slowly getting to the bottom of the problem(s). There was a definite problem with the Sky hub - it seems after using a scanner the hub wifi was just dropping out for no apparent reason. Sky has replaced this (a great service it turned up the following day) and this seems fine. However, I am still experiencing problems - after a while (a day or so) the connection will fail although the wifi signal is there it does not want to seem to want to connect unless I am near the Hub. The Sky engineer thought that there may also be a problem with the Q hub and offered to replace this but I am reluctant as we have a large number of recordings on it. I have noticed while using the scanner that as we live very close to the road (albeit a small country lane), we pick up wifi signals from cars (Audi's etc. going past) and I am wondering if this is causing problems. I have also noticed that the WiFi seems to be stable if the Sky Q Box is off.
I can see that with the Wifi in auto, the channels are 36 (5Khz) and 11 (hub), and 1 or 6 for the Q box on the 2.4khz band. I thought I would try and fix these to 36 and 11 but when I set these on the hub page the Q box always seems to allocate either 1 or 6 e.g. I can't change it although while writing this it has changed from 6 to 1???. My question is can you fix the Q box frequency?
The Q box is hard-wired but this does not seem to be connecting either so I feel that I may end up replacing it anyway.
Dave.

I also have my main Q box hard wired to the Sky Hub. I went into the settings (use 001 return) to turn off Wifi (both 2.4 and 5Ghz) on the Q box. Wired works great especially for streaming. Does not affect Wifi for Mini's. If you have an old Sky Hub (new one is SR203) then getting the new one and paying Sky £5 pm for Wifi Boost worked for me - never had any issues since.

I had to smile when you mentioned Audis as they are notorious for causing problems - the "in car wifi" picks a random channel with 40MHz bandwidth at full power and basically destroys half the 2.4GHz band for anyone else every time they drive by.
My daughter used to live in the centre of Leicester (right beside the inner ring road) & Audi/VW group cars plus the buses' wifi caused so many problems we had to turn off 2.4GHz on the ISP router completely and use a highly directional access point (old Unifi HD model). Even then 2.4GHz was marginal in terms of performance. Fortunately she's an Apple fan so it was fairly easy to shift all her stuff to 5GHz.
No easy answer for you except to stop using 2.4GHz wifi.....

A quick update. I turned off the 2.4 kHz wifi on the Sky Q Box last night and all seemed fine until this morning when the wifi had dropped and I couldn't connect. The ethernet connection to the Q box was not working. A long call to sky resulted in updating the firmware of the Sky Q box, removing the ECO mode, and deleting some recordings (only 3% capacity left) which they said can cause problems. Fingers crossed that this resolves the problem.
