Bad Wifi with New Box
My plan/deal has been changed, previously on 100mbs download, the new plan says i get 500mbs. They sent out a new router which has been plugged in and setup. Granted hardwired to the computer i am getting 500mbs download but the wifi is shocking. Disconnects every 10 minutes in certain rooms. The box is no different to the old one other than it being white. The old router is not plugged in although comes up on iphone wifi selection showing full bars where as new one comes up with one out the three bars.

Re: Bad Wifi with New Box
@HKirk Sounds like you have Sky Q boxes (or an old Sky booster) as that will explain why you still see the old Sky SSID. If so the issue can be explained the new white hub maybe the same shape as the old hub but is fundamentally different it no longer supports the Sky Q wifi mesh which allowed Sky Q boxes to act as wifi extenders. Instead only the main Sky Q box connects to the hub and produces a closed wifi signal (the old Sky SSID) which any Q mini boxes connect to.
Sky Q used an early WiFi mesh system thst is no longer supported and given the limited life of satellite broadcasting in the UK Sky have had to switch to newer technologies for their latest kit. It is a pain for those still with Sky Q. Your best course of action is to speak to Sky and choose between staying with the okd black router and use your Sky Q boxes to give wifi coverage or to switch to the new hub and maybe get some of the matched extender pods that come as part of the https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-wifi-max pack and just use the Q boxes fir TV.

The 2023 Max Hub is substantially different technology to the 2019 Sky Broadband Hub.
