Long q short: as per title!
BT contract has expired. Sky offer through mysky is so much cheaper for full fiber 500 makes me wonder if the are using cityfiber.
Issue with cityfiber is that they wanted to dig up the drive, whereas openreach have pre existing ducting that they used.
If sky turned it to be cityfiber I'd just cancel the order, but it would be much easier to know beforehand.
I will of course see if BT can get closer to sky's prices in the meantime.
Thanks

The use of One Touch switching is far more convenient than tasking cityfibre to dig up the footpaths etc, i think the main point of cityfibre partner is to reach areas openreach don't plan on upgrading to fttp

Re: Any way to tell if sky use openreach or cityfibre
@Batch See if openreach have Fibre available to your address using there checker. If so, then have a look at what ISP's will supply to you!

Re: Any way to tell if sky use openreach or cityfibre
@Batch If you have OR FTTP already installed into your home, up and working, not sure if sky would even contemplate using a CF fibre connection when it is sitting out on the road not even connected. Have you asked the question directly to sky.
If you are doing this all as a move provider then it just may be simplar to ask the question. Moving from and too a sky connection on an existing OR system is far easier for sure.

Re: Any way to tell if sky use openreach or cityfibre
If this is just upgrading speed on an existing openreach fttp connection sky would likely just use the existing connection

Switch from bt->sky

Re: Any way to tell if sky use openreach or cityfibre
@Batch Then i would expect a straight deal from sky, use all the existing as it is, take over the line from your current provider and sky organise it all, new hub sent to you, activation date for going live, and a straight out old hub, in new hub and off you go.....
That is how it should work, none off this faffing about with CF that is not at your home, one thing though, sky will not entertain using price off one against the other, so make a decission and stick to it.

Re: Any way to tell if sky use openreach or cityfibre
@Batch Got it, just make your mind up with regards to what you have existing Router and any smart wireless you have as EE/BT side, to what you need to get from sky, can be a little bit off a miss concept in looking one against the other....

Re: Any way to tell if sky use openreach or cityfibre
I would suspect Sky will go with whatever is cheapest and easiest. That is, if you have OR infrastructure already in place then they'll go with that. After all, as the will have to pay for the installation work, that would make the most economic sense.
My problem is I still don't have FTTP installed but both OR and CF infrastructure are avaiable. I too would like to hear if anyone knows how to get Sky to commit to what they are going to use before the order goes through?

Re: Any way to tell if sky use openreach or cityfibre
@Deb3000 That's a call to sky for sure to find that out, how is you current connection on the copper, pole or underground, and where is OR fibre sitting at present. Not always clear but OR can jump the gun and not all the ISP's have the needed/necessary exchange equipment up and ready to go. OR Fibre or BTW fibre checker's get you somewhere near but if sky say you can have it when you look at the offer's pay attention to the Up/Down speed's, symmetrical OR DO NOT DO at present!

Re: Any way to tell if sky use openreach or cityfibre
Ah, the symmetrical speed bit is a good call. Didn't think of that. I'll have another look.
Edit: Yeah, speeds for the 300 package are almost the same, i.e. symmetrical. That suggests CF.
