Andrew Wickerson
Moved into a new flat and previous tenant WiFi is still running. Trying to find a number to switch contract to my name as seems easier than getting my own.
anyone have a number I can call to do that and maybe upgrade the package?
please and thank you

ISPs don't permit contract switching like that: they aren't allowed to do so by Ofcom, so as to deter unauthorised transfers and malicious disconnection.

Re: Andrew Wickerson
@Andywick123 Sky won't allow a change of account ownership, the previous tenants would have to cancel or transfer there account before you can sign up in your name

Re: Andrew Wickerson
@Andywick123 Would advise you to call about it if it is indeed a sky account, if they have walked away not cancelled it and do not pay the bill then it's going to be a different story!

Re: Andrew Wickerson
Sky absolutely shouldn't discuss the standing of the account with anyone else: that would be a clear breach of GDPR.

Re: Andrew Wickerson
@TimmyBGood Understand that, does it not allow sky to do a e-mail to the registered account holder, or they just do nothing in the meantime!

No, not at all. Communication from an alleged new occupant of an address should have absolutely influence.
or they just do nothing in the meantime!
If the subscription on a circuit is being paid then an ISP has no choice.

Re: Andrew Wickerson
I agree but can't find a number to call. Keep seeing landline numbers

Re: Andrew Wickerson
Timmy, you appear to be an expert. What would you do. I've just moved in. Aware getting a new box delivered can take a while and wfh.
would you suggest not calling in? Agent said this happens quite often.

@Andywick123 it is pointless you phoning yourself, there is nothing sky can do for you
are you in contact with previous tenants or your landlord as the only solution is for somehow make contact with previous tenants and get them to transfer or cancel their account, as you wont be able to join otherwise

Re: Andrew Wickerson
Appreciate candor. Contact will be tough. Previous tenant abandoned property. Will order BT box and hope they don't cancel haha. Terrible speed box

Re: Andrew Wickerson
A different ISP to the current one can potentially order a new circuit.

@Andywick123 but make sure you don't request a line takeover it has to be a new line
