Amber internet light on router

Sky app is useless, my router shows an amber internet connection light but not the app nor prompts when trying to connect to wifi are able to help. 
The app is useless, the contact number tells me to try the app which tells me 'everything is fine' when clearly i dont have a connection, its almost a plecebo to fool the middle aged, decreped and above. 
I highly doubt posting this will resolve my issue as this is a user furum rather than a technical assistance hub. But hey ho, one can dream.

@Noah3 the app has linitations and only shows the connection has dropped when the hub doesnt reply when tested. However the service checker will tell you if Sky have been told there is a fault affecting your line BUT at 1.50am the most likelyproblem isnt a fault at all but essential maintenance work has required your connection to be disconnected.

 

This work is done at night to minimise incovenience if that is the cause your connection will be back this morning.
