Recently replaced BT halo and 3 discs with Sky fibre, and 2 boosters
Modem is in old part of house
Sons pc is in new extension and not wifi enabled
Sky boosters no longer have an Ethernet port
What is best way to get pc up and running
Wifi card in pc or some sort of additional booster with a port
and what type please ?

Alternatively, a pair of Powerline networking adaptors.

Thanks for reply
Can you dumb that down a bit for me please , not sure I fully understand as not technical at all,
I have , modem upstairs one side of house , puck downstairs with main tv for watching all packages , and a booster in my sons room at other side of house
We were told the booster would have a port, but the new ones apparently don't

Alternatively there is a technology called Powerline which has adapters that send the data through your home's mains wiring. You get two adapters in a kit one plugs into a wall sicket near your hub and links to it by a short ethernet cable that comes in the kit. The second adapter plugs into a wall socket near your pc and also links by ethernet there are adapters with built-in wifi but you sound like you need just a basic kit.
This technology works in most homes but obviously depends on how tge mains is wired but is often better than using wifi boosters evenwith etgernet ports for PCs in distant rooms.plan on getting roughly 20% of the rated speed on the kits packaging and you shoukdn't becdisapointed.

Thanks for suggestion
I've been told as the modem is in old part of house and my sons bedroom is in new extension , the electric ring main may be different , so tech that uses electric cables may not be efficient ?

Still worth a try and if you find they don't work you can return them for a refund.
Alternatively, as mentioned a dongle may suffice.

What's power line ?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out morePowerline or 'Homeplugs' use your electrical wiring to carry the network signals. You plug one into the socket next to your hub & the other next to the PC.
