Adding new build address for broadband
Moving into my first home on the 26th and tried to get broadband and my address wasn't available so I rang up and they sent me a link to fill out my name/email and home address so they could add it.
Was just wondering how long this roughly takes.
Spoke to my house developers and they said everything is up and live on their end.
Any guidance towards this is appreciated as I'm fairly new to all of this.

Re: Adding new build address for broadband
@mattytatty there is no simple answer to your question as it depends on why the new property is not immeadiatly coming up on the database Sky uses. During the construction of a new development the developers lay basic infrastructure to allow the two network operators Sky use who are Openreach and City Fibre. There is a process where developers register with them so that the new properties are added to thecdatabase before the proprty is finished, You can search for your own new address here Openreach Checker
and City Fibre checker.
Some developers like Persimmons have deals where they only allow a single network to provide a connection tying you to the ISPs who use that network so check if thst applies in your case. Other small developers miss out steps which means the address has to be added later.

Re: Adding new build address for broadband
Hi,
The developers are Barrett Homes and I was told they use the open reach services but every time I try to use the open reach checker using my postcode and address nothing happens.

Re: Adding new build address for broadband
@mattytatty is your new address on the Postcode database see https://www.royalmail.com/find-a-postcode? If it isn't that is the explanation if it is can you see other houses in your new decelopment listed in the Openreach database?

Re: Adding new build address for broadband
@mattytatty complete the form as you were asked, it sounds like Barrrett may have not told Openreach your plot is ready to order. Buying property is stressful esecially new builds.

Re: Adding new build address for broadband
You don't own the property until completion date so you won't be able to order anything until then, regardless of whether its gone live on Openreach systems.
Its normally 2-4 weeks after completion that you'll be enabled as you have a 2 week cooling off period.
That assumes the property actually has fibre on completion; many have the ONT installed but the streetworks haven't been completed. Depends on how good the site manager is IME.....

Re: Adding new build address for broadband
In addition you may not have a postcode yet - it takes 6 weeks or so for that to propogate around the various systems. Took 8 weeks for us as ordnance survey/whoever hadn't done their GPS measurements. That's the biggest PITA when moving into a new-build, it doesn't appear on any maps/databases at first.
