sky not working on other tv's

Can anyone help please, since installing a new TV we now no longer can get sky in all the other rooms.  We used to be able to watch the same Sky channel on all the other TV's.  We have a digilink and a Wolsey booster by the main TV and then a distribution box upstairs but not sure what that is.  The RF output is on.  Channel set to 24 which has always worked before.  any ideas please before we call someone out to fix.

@webby1957 Does your new TV have an analog tuner? A lot (most) of new tv's don't have one. Without one it can't tune in to the analog Sky signal being sent via the RF Output.

@webby1957

On my panasonic TV I have to choose between a digital tune scan or an analogue tune scan or a manual analogue scan on a specific channel number.

Similar thing on my fairly new JVC.

I would then have to select ATV (analogue input) on the input selector.

@webby1957  just to clarify - is it just the new tv that you can't get Sky on? Or is it all  the connected TVs?

Re: sky not working on other tv's

The new TV is LG and does not appear to have an analogue tuner.  It comes up to select Antenna DTV or Antenna TV.  We tried retuning but no luck. Just to clarify we have a Satellite aerial and a analogue aerial.  The main new TV is receiving SKY fine but not pushing the signal to all the other TVs in the house so no Sky in other rooms.  We tried tuning in the the other TVs as well.  Thank you for all your advice.

@webby1957

it is in what you have said

"It comes up to select Antenna DTV or Antenna TV. "

Antenna DTV is digital TV

and

Antenna TV is analogue

Select antenna TV (if available select manual tune and choose channel 24) and retune with the sky going in to the antenna in the normal way. Remember to switch to Antenna TV when you want to watch sky and teh approriate TV channel number you have selected e.g 1, 2 or 3.

 You can still tune for DTV via Antenna DTV as if the aerial connections are there to get the freeview channels

That you can't tune your new tv into your Sky box's RF output doesn't matter if you're able to watch Sky on that tv, presumably by its HDMI connection to your Sky box.

It shouldn't have anything to do with the problem with the other TVs as they don't rely on your main tv.

However you may have disturbed the wiring behind the tv when you installed the new tv, so first check that the coax cable in your Sky box's RF2 socket is still pushed firmly home.

Re: sky not working on other tv's

Thankyou for all the help.  We have managed to get SKY on another TV but the picture is terrible.  Its the same RF channel output we used before the new TV which was 24 and worked fine.  I presume then we have to change this to see what signal is best to push the signal through to the other tv and retune it

Re: sky not working on other tv's

I have the same problem.  The set up has worked for 20 years, then all of a sudden the signal started to deteriorate until it is just screen of fuzz with just sky audio.  I had an aerial company come and check all the cables and they are all fine.  All the TV's have analouge tune and nothing has changed at my end.  What on earth has happened.

Could be a number of causes. Is the picture OK when you first,turn on your Sky box and tv, then deteriorate over minutes or hours? Or is the picture poor immediately you turn on ?

Re: sky not working on other tv's

The main TV connected to the sky box is perfect.  The TV in the Kitchen  & bedroom always had a good picture, then over time in started to deteriorate until it is just fuzz.  I tried to  re tune the analogue  several times with no success. As I have MS the bedroom TV is important as bad days mean bed rest.

@thooper please see my previous post:

The reason I ask these very specific questions is that if the picture is OK to start with, when you turn on your Sky box and bedroom tv from standby but then deteriorates over minutes or longer it's likely to be because of a fault with your Sky box.

If the picture is poor immediately you turn on your Sky box from standby and your bedroom tv, it may have a different cause.

Re: sky not working on other tv's

Bedroom & kitchen sky not working immediately you turn them on.   Cable goes from RF out up to the attic then distributed from there.  The freeview picture is perfect on all the TV's.  This has worked perfectly for years.

@thooper thanks for clarifying. To further narrow down the possibilites, is the distributor in the attic an amplified splitter, or an unpowered passive splitter?

And is the Freeview feed from your TV aerial also distributed via the splitter? Or does the aerial cable plug into your Sky box's aerial/RF In socket?

Re: sky not working on other tv's

Yes, the "in" feed is the aerial  into the sky box & the "out" feed takes everything back up to the attic and distributes it all.
