set to record with series link, previous prog overan mines never recorded

I had set my planner with a series link for eastenders, but the Tennis over run and it was moved from bbc1 to bbc2 and never recorded, can I set something to stop this happening in future, I thought it would follow the series link no matter what channel it was on.
