i am accessing sky yahoo email via outlook, i can send emails but not recieve emails

I have removed and installed, got a generated pass word, i can send mail but not recive it. I have other devices which i can send and receive on fine.

When you try to receive emails, what happens so if you see an error message what does it say ?

Hi, I dont recieve any error message , when i send and recive outlook doesnt look for incoming mail it only snycs and sends?

I go to repair account in settings and it says all is working? Very frustrating!! maybe its an issue with windows 11 which i have recently installed?

If Outlook is running in IMAP mode (which is the default) it doesn't "look for email", that is POP.

Sync is the method for keeping your local folders the same as the remote folders on the server.

If you log in here: https://skyid.sky.com/signin/email, those are the server folders and they should be the same as those on Outlook.

I am completerly stuck with Outlook and Sky. I am too old to understand what's going on. All I want is to speak to someone to tell him/her that I don't have anymore emails. WHY outlook is not working anymore with Sky? Apparently Yahoo is involved! So?

Welcome to the forum @Greenrainette . Just so you know, we're all customers here. 

 

You're not to old to fix this! 🙂

 

All you need to do is generate an app password and use it in place of your normal Sky Yahoo Mail password in your Outlook setup. There are full instructions in Sky's help guide here: https://www.sky.com/help/home/sky-yahoo-mail/setting-up-yahoo-mail/articles/getting-started-with-sky...

 

See,the section headed 'Computer'. There's a link in the guide to the page which generates the app password.

You haven't said why you "don't have anymore emails".

If it's because you get password errors you probably need to use a generated password instead of your account password in Outlook.

After three days of hard research, my husband managed to re-establish the connection. Apparently it was due to the changes Yahoo was making with Sky and that deprived me of a normal connection via Outlook. I think they should be warning people and offer a much easier access than a robot, someone else or phone numbers that don't reply. Many thanks to reply to me and try to help. Without a wizzard husband I would have called and paid for an engineer!!!

@Greenrainette Could you help us by telling us whether it was the app password issue or something else? 

I'm currently having problems syncing email on Outlook. Just suddenly stopped getting emails even though it says it's updating folders/repairs work fine etc etc. Nothing is being downloaded and I just don't get it! I've deleted the OST file (email account) from Outlook and re-added and still have the same issue. For reference, in the sync issues folder, this message came up (altered email for privacy):

Have you changed the password in Outlook from your account password to an app password you can generate here: https://www.sky.com/sky-yahoo-mail/manage-apps?

Yes already had one and uodated it with a new one. That doesn't help.

A quick look online suggests it might be caused by a corrupt PST file.

Yes I've already done lots of looking around online and the advice was - if inbox repair didn't work- to remove the email account and log in again. I tried this before coming on here but it didn't seem to work. However I've left it on overnight and magically the new email has downloaded! So it has seemed to work just removing the email account and adding the account again. Thanks for your suggestions anyway.
