disconnect my account within the next 24 hours

I just recieved a phone call from someone saying that they were from sky and that my account would be disconnected within the next 24 hours because there were people using it for illegal activities and they were going to help me set up a firewall.

I suspected that the phone call was a trick so I told them that I was not a sky customer and that they had the wrong number.

What can I do to make sure my account is safe?

It's a well reported attempt to scam you. The call isn't genuine and the caller has no way of affecting you landline service.

Edited to add: there's some help here from Sky on how to deal with such calls: https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Broadband/Help-with-scam-calls-texts-amp-emails/td-p/3437640/jump-to/fi...

@Alex1  Certainly sounds like a Scam, if you didn't give them access to your pc etc then you should be secure, however if you want you can make sure your Sky account password is secure by changing it here My Account | Sky.com

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.
