Yet another increase in my DD payments

I am appauled with a number of DD increases and I am finding it difficult to accept.. Being a pensioner a TV is my only form of pleasure ( minus your increase in adverts) and you are now pricing me out of my enjoyment. I am already restricted in what I can watch as you reduced my bill 2 years ago and cut the stations I was able to tune into. Surely you should have a tarriff for persons over 65. I await your reply with interest

We are all customers here @Bazza+T so you are not talking to Sky.

What has probably happened is a discount you had on your account has now come to an end so now is the time to contact Sky again to see if they will offer you a further reduction for the next 12/18 months.

There are a few ways to do this including using a messaging service as you can see via the Yes button at the bottom of this page:

https://www.sky.com/help/articles/cancel-sky-tv

So select "Yes I still need help".

You're asking other customers here.

Apart from incidentals like purchases from the Sky Store and calls if you have a phone package,  your bill only increases as a result of the annual price rise in April, or a discount offer ending. Sounds like you probably need to speak to Sky about a new discount deal.

Re: Yet another increase in my DD payments

I have same problem with constant increase to DD.  Tried to get Sky to give me penalty figure so that I can cancel them altogether but they tell e they can't do that.Asked them what would happen if I died and was told my relatives would have to pay. My contract ends Sept 2022 which is now in my diary for cancellation, and then Sky can get S.

Re: Yet another increase in my DD payments

I am not happy with Sky, the rates increase and so does the extra time adverts show their ugly heads. A repeat of a 30 minute programme increases to 45 minutes with Sky to incorporate these adverts. When the box dies that is it. Wanted to just cancel my DD on my online bank a/c but my wife likes repeats they constantly show. Cannot even emigrate as Australia are taking anybody in for the foreseeable future. Lifes a **bleep** sometimes.

Thay would be unwise. Cancelling your direct debit doesn't cancel your Sky contract, and they'll chase you for the debt, which will involve you in additional charges.

@TechmanagerMal  @reiver  termination charges may not be applicable here as the latest terms and conditions explicitly states that you cannot cancel during a minimum term

so my advice @reiver would be to check the terms and conditions you were sent when you signed up if they say otherwise you could contact sky again pointing this out

  • Thanks for that I hadn't realised there was a clause to that effect, must read the small print.

Re: Yet another increase in my DD payments

I'm a landlord - I have a single property bought with a mortgage, providing an affordable home to a couple of sharers. I wouldn't touch Sky myself, I'm happy with Freeview but the tenants wanted Sky and I thought the rent + shared bills would cover the subscription. Hahahahaha. £55 a month is going up to £72 with sneaky expiry of introductory offfers and what look like lots of duplication in the package they sold me. I'm going to ask Sky for a reduction/consolidation but I'll have to ask the tenants to increase the rent or limit their Sky options.

Sky confirm to you at sign up how long your discount lasts. Don't see anything 'sneaky' about it.

You would have been told how long the minimum term was when you placed an order for this at the price you were paying so this really should have been a surprise that your price was increasing.

It's so sneaky they usually tell you at the start of the contract.

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers
