Our wifi signal was poor on the top floor of our house and such things as trying to watch Netflix would often buffer.
We got a Sky Booster box today and set it up before which I did a wifi signal speed test. After the booster was set up and working, I did another wifi speed test and the signal is now worse than before!
Any ideas how this can be the case when it's supposed to boost our wifi speed?

I initially the first floor (router is on the ground floor). Then on the 3rd floor which is where the wifi signal problem originally was.

Ok I've done what you suggested and run another speed check upon the top floor and it's now even weaker!

A speed check. It's nearly halved the speed since setting up the booster. Internet us slow to open pages, images, Netflix buffering etc.

Yes that is quite possible. Did you get the booster for speed or range. Boosters often come at a sacrifice of speed for more coverage.

As I've described before, the wifi signal and download speed was slow on the top floor. Internet was slow when browsing ie websites slow at opening etc and streaming such ad Netflix buffers. A Sky technician told me that we would need a booster to improve the wifi on the top floor. Its now worse with the booster in place.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreThe signal strength should improve but speed may well be the same or less. If the signal strength isnt improving then there must be an issue with the setup
