If Disney have the rights to them then that will be why as this is how the world of TV and film works these days with so many different streaming services like Disney+ out there. The days of being able to watch everything via a few mainstream providers are long since gone.

@Sharon62

The Branagh 'Murder on the Orient Express' was one of the last releases from 20th Century Fox before they were purchased by Disney, so presumably Disney now own whatever rights Agatha Christie Limited originally sold to Fox.

The ability to attract audiences, along with famous actors to star, as well as the benefit of successful source material and the creative voices of Michael Green and Kenneth Branagh are all massive strengths of a potential Agatha Christie adaptation franchise. Much of it will ultimately depend on the financial success of this week’s Death on the Nile, and if this new film does well and makes a profit, this could certainly be yet another big franchise under Disney’s belt.

Agatha Christie Limited (ACL) has been managing the literary and media rights to Agatha Christie's works around the world since 1955, when the company was set up by Christie herself.

It is now chaired and managed by Agatha Christie’s great grandson James Prichard. 64% of ACL is owned by RLJ Entertainment, a premier independent owner, developer, licensee and distributor of entertainment content and programming primarily in North America, the United Kingdom and Australia. 36% is owned by Agatha Christie’s family.

They only have two films... both of which they made.

As you're an avid fan, I imagine that you've already seen the one that's now around 5 years old. If you don't wish to subscribe to Disney+ for the most recent movie, there are plenty of retail outlets that allow you to rent the movie on its own.

Being a fan of something, avid or not, doesn't guarantee that something will happen to be on a service you already subscribe to.
