Slightly under a year: the official Stream launch date is (not coincidentally) the first anniversary of the start of Glass sales.

Ah, of course it is a year, I should have remembered that. Like all nightmares time seems to work differently with Glass 🙂

And all users are paying a monthly subscription to be Beta testers 😡

It's like beans on toast you just got an urge to have them but really you're after a juicy steak.

I'm still within 31 days to make my mind up and the scales are tipping to return.

But what next? Back to Q! Hmmmm.

To be honest if I had the doubts you have about Stream it would be gone.

Re: Who's switching from Q to Stream?

@Chrisee I think that's right. I've checked all the BBC drama series stored on my HD box, and all bar one fairly obscure series are available on iplayer for 12 months after broadcast. If you haven't watched it by then it's probably not a priority!

Yep! Heading that way sadly, still got time on my side and Apple TV so won't jump but will need to decide in a week or so.

Re: Who's switching from Q to Stream?

Well @Anonymous I don't really understand why anyone that can have a dish wouldn't have Q. It's a fabulous, mature system.

Streaming is very much a poor relation

What we truly need know from everyone that has switched to stream or glass from Q do you all regret it?. And if you could swap back just like that then would you ?

Pretty well by definition, people who don't regret such a move almost never visit forums like this, so it's a very bad place to try and get a statistically meaningful response

As much as I don't like the hardware, I don't regret the switch from Q to Stream at all.

It's given me some space back beneath the TV and got rid of the ever present quiet whirr of the Q box fan and hard drive.

It's a different means of watching TV. It'll take time for people to get used to it. I don't watch much Sky-exclusive TV any more so I'm not the best demographic for the service. I'll dip in and out of it when the mood takes me. The fact I can do this on a 31 day contract basis is good.

I still maintain that the Stream hardware is merely adequate for the job. Nothing more. In a more powerful box it could be fantastic. But it's not. It's functional. And that's good enough for most folk.

Re: Who's switching from Q to Stream?

What persuaded me to Stream was the ability to track viewing especially through apps like Netflix, Apple TV, Prime etc. Q doesn't do that, if it did happy days. With the dilusion of viewing across multiple apps the recording functionality in Q was not enough I wanted to keep track of viewing and new episodes on other app platforms. So streaming seamed to be the answer.

However in reality the Play Now does not live up to the glossy Sky promotion.

My dilemma do I stick with what I was looking for in the hope Sky get their act together or revert back to Q when I can with no hope of what I was looking for but a stable platform 🤨🤔

I think I've said several times over the past year that I don't object to the Glass system (mostly because we never use Playlist, don't watch sports and very rarely consume ITV/C4/C5 'on-demand' services) but I would have been very unhappy with the quality of the Glass television if purchasing it (even after having the first one replaced).

Lol @fizzdisco I'd forgotten about the Q disk/fan noise. I love a silent room!
