Anymore reviews on stream would be grateful.

Is it as good as Q other than recording

If you currently have Q and it works for you then absolutely stick with it.

Stream is perfectly adequate as a streaming service but the Stream puck itself is cheap and only just about up to the job. Having just switched from a 2Tb V3 Q box, I can say that the interface on Stream is slower than Q, it's much less reliable (frequent lock ups, picture loss, sound going out of sync) and is overall a less satisfying experience than Q.

Just because it's newer, it doesn't make it better.

If you want rid of the dish or can't have one then go for it - it'll provide a perfectly adequate service, but if you're used to a stable Q system then there's a strong possibility you'll find it troublesome.

The one thing about it that is better than Q is that it's quieter. Totally silent in fact!

Are you allowed to use sky Go if you have just the one stream puck? The FAQ suggests you need to pay for whole home...

Re: Who's switching from Q to Stream?

I have had Stream for a while now and I still think it is a great bit of kit. I have got used to the playlist and sorted out the sound and picture settings to my satisfaction. Voice control works well for me. The UHD pictures are superb and Atmos works well through my LG soundbar and speaker set up. All in all, I am very happy with it.

ETA I have had none of the picture problems and lock-ups and sync problems described above by @fizzdisco . I have used Sky Go with no problem and I only have one Stream box.

@Ed.B. I needed Whole Home to use Sky Go on Apple TV.  Good app but limited picture quality for now so I ended up getting another stream puck.

@lee9160 Take a look at the help videos. Just say 'Help' into the remote to get there. Plenty of guides there.

I had Sky Go Extra on my previous Q account and I can still use Sky Go with a single Stream puck.

Just for balance I'm not having any of the issues that @fizzdisco is reporting.

I don't think so. It feels pretty similar to the other pucks I've used at friends' places over the past year. A tad faster maybe, but that's down to more recent software updates.

It's largely because I'm an irritable nerd who expects things to work quickly and flawlessly, like all the other slicker, faster streaming devices I have owned and used which are much more intuitive and reliable.

Maybe I was just lucky but my 2Tb V3 Q box was absolutely faster at navigating the menus, EPG and speeding through programmes than the Stream box is.

Anyway, they're different types of service. Q is a satellite receiver/PVR. Stream is a streaming device. They both allow you to watch TV in different ways. Is one better than the other? Only the individual user can decide.

As in 'can't record'? Not a problem so far for the way I view content.

@Villa19

Having FTTP definitely helps, however, a decent Wifi6 router definitely definitely helps with stability etc.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more

@John+lyon+flowers the lack of the ability to record locally need not be an issue as the vast majority of material is available if you do a search. It is true that content owners control how long that remains available but that problem is nothing like so common as some posters msy lead you to believe.

The playlist functionality is improving and will pick up new seasons of shows you have added previously. Whether Stream will suit you depends on your personal viewing pattern and how flexible you can be to adapt to get the best out of the new interface and service.
