I'm quite impressed how the stream is immediately high definition. BT sport takes a couple of seconds before coming into focus.

It's stopped telling me the batteries in the remote are flat now they've agreed to send a new one...

I think it's because Sky don't appear to be using any adaptive codec for streaming where as BT Sport do. Isn't that typical it starts working when it's replacement is on it's way.

That happened to me, first week and a half, 2 sets of Duracells, now 3 weeks on all working well.

So should I reject the replacement? I assumed it was a problem with the remote but they said they'd send a new puck...

Given all the issues you've reported, I'd be inclined to start over with all new kit. Having to set up everything again is a bit of a pain, but when I did it to resolve the no subtitles problem it took less than half-an-hour, including re-registering the 8-10 third party apps I use.

Is that a good or bad thing? 🤷♂️

If you have Ethernet it's probably doesn't effect you if you have WiFi it's kind of a bad thing as I noticed because it causes buffering of channels when the WiFi has judder etc.

Set up was much smoother with this one. I didn't have to reconnect the remote ten times...

Well it's been a week since I emailed my concerns to viewer relations. How long do they normally take to respond?

I received a reply in about three days by phone and was appointed a Sky Techy. Still not fully resolved my initial issue but at least my 31 day return period was put on hold.

I decided to switch back to Sky Q today. It's been a really frustrating couple of weeks with Sky Stream. Whilst my wife isn't a technophobe, she likes things to just work, and the constant process of having to reset remotes, reboot pucks after the system freezing and the change of local to "cloud recordings" was just too much. Shame because the picture in 4K was great, I'm now back to 1080 now.
Hopefully they will sort out the remote issues, as after a year these issues shouldn't be happening - even Chinese Android boxes have better remotes than these supposed high end devices.

@fizzdisco wrote:So has anyone currently with Q already phoned up and got a Sky Stream puck delivered & activated?
I'm curious to know how Sky have been dealing with it in this soft launch period, particularly as customers seem to be being charged quite widely varying costs compared to what was stated in Sky's initial press release.
Has anyone who is mid-contract on Q been offered and accepted a Sky Stream puck? If so, have you had to agree to an 18 month contract on Sky Stream? Did your Q service stop immediately after puck activation?

That's a shame as the picture quality with Stream is superior to Q but I get where you're coming from you just want to press a few buttons and watch TV, stream can make it so frustrating at times.
I've nearly sent mine back a few times but seeing streaming as the future it's kind of a challenge to battle on to see what happens.
