Probably more importantly @HarmonyUK the Q box will be blocked by Sky from operating and so can serve no purpose.    It will still remain the property of Sky.

@oldfella I am well aware of this but I need to know what the fee is as I am contemplating removing the hard disk

@HarmonyUK

Good to know: Paying a Non-return charge doesn’t buy the equipment, it’s just a cost for not returning. It will still be Sky owned and we’ll still want you to return it.

Hi @HarmonyUK

Any part of Q equipment not returned to Sky would potentially be classed as stolen property.

Thanks for your answer. I can get a 2Tb HD for less than £135 so you have made my mind up.

About £100 less, I'd hope, assuming you can still find a drive that small in stock ; )

Haha, yes even a 4Tb WD red can be had for under £100 these days.

Dismantling a Sky Q box for the hard drive doesn't seem like an economically sensible decision.

HI @roberto+2 you cannot purchase SKY Q boxes they are always owned by SKY and must be returned  - extra fees are charged if they not returned but the boxes are locked and cannot be used  once a subscription is cancelled (see discussion above)

There are usually admin fees to obtain boxes but these are not purchase costs just one off costs- these can vary but if that is what you are asking about we can possibly give a guide

There would be no point doing so: unlike Sky+ hardware used for Freesat reception, Sky Q has no functionality at all without an ongoing 'Entertainment' or 'Signature' subscription.
