Voice control automatically selects HD channels

Suddenly when I use my SKYQ voice control remote, it takes me to the HD channel of the channel I say rather than the SD version (for example I say 'E4' and it takes me to E4 HD. I have not got a HD package which subsequently means I have to scroll to the correct channel instead. How do I change this? It's never happened before until the past week or so

  • You need to set your preferences to always download in SD too.
Passing on the tips I have learned in over 25 years as a more than satisfied Sky customer.

@TechmanagerMal

Doesn't help when watching live channels though.

Clearly the only acceptable answer here is to subscribe to HD. 😉

The SD versions are like watching the footage of Armstrong climbing down the ladder of the lunar module.

This was changed a while ago because most of our customers watch in HD so it felt like the natural thing to do.

I guess it would be a nice touch if it was intelligent enough to know if the current subscriber has HD and choose accordingly.

It would be better if it was included in the basic subscription BUT Sky want everything to seem cheaper than it actually is.

They are running a very misleading advert on TV at the moment listing things you can get and quoting £25pm then taking about various apps which are all add ons at more expence.

So can this not be changed for those of us who don't have HD channels?

Although inconvient, you can say 'xxxx SD' where xxxx is the channel you want
