Using Sky + box as freesat box

Hi, I recently had a smart  LNB installation to make my sky + box into a freeview box as I have upgraded to Sky Q. I was told I would be able to watch my recordings back and view freeview channels. Neither of which work, just get an on screen message about the viewing card not being authorised. Can anyone help please?

You won't be able to watch your recordings as recording and playback are subscription features and you no longer have a Sky+ subscription.

You should be able to watch the free to air channels though, with or without a Viewing Card. Try removing it.

We can play back some of our recordings just not all of them. The engineer assured us that we would be able to watch them all. Do you know which channels we should be able to view with freesat?

Pretty much all the channels listed here.

If you still have playback functionality (possibly only temporarily) you'll be able to view recordings from the free to air channels, but not any channels requiring a Sky subscription.

Just not true, I'm afraid: your right to do so came from your Sky+ subscription which no longer exists after moving to Sky Q
