Using Mini box as hotspot

Hi

We have a main Sky Q box a room from the router, connected wirelessly, no issues. We have Sky broadband.

We have a mini box and some other tech in the attic, reasonable connection but much better over Ethernet and TP Links.

I'm told that my mini box in the attic can be a hotspot, so I thought I'd connect it via Ethernet and connect the other tech to it.

It's been an hour and still no joy. I think I have finally got the box to use the Ethernet connection, but if I try and connect anything to it (at least I think it's it, it's the strongest Wi-Fi signal up here and has Sky in its name), it asks me for a password.

I don't have one, so I press the connect button on the mini and no effect.

Please tell me how I can achieve my aim.

Thank you.

@Spikie

So long as the ssid in the attic matches the one on your own router the password will be a 12 character network security key found on the back of the router

@Spikie follow through the instructions here https://www.sky.com/help/diagnostics/setting-up-sky-q/connect-your-sky-q-mini

The Q mini will take up to a minute to find the ethernet connection but will work as you want when it is radiating the same SSID as your Sky hub which means it is properly connected. Your main Q box also acts as a wifi hotspot by the way.

If you continue to get different strong Sky SSIDs you may need to reset the Q mini you can do this by navigating to Settings and entering 0,0,1 before select which opens a hidden menu with the reset option then set it up as a new unit..

Turn off your TP-Link wifi as you shouldnt need it and 2 wifi networks in the same area are likely to cause interference.

@Spikie

Best way to get this working is to connect the mini box via WPS to the main box first and then connect the ethernet cable to it
