This display does not support HDCP

This message is on my TV screen from my sky box through an AV receiver.

Yet when i plug an HDMI lead directly from my sky box to the tv the picture is back to normal working fine?

Any help/ideas on why this is happening (Only a problem in the last few weeks after many years of the equipment working ok)

First try switching everything off at the plug for 5 minutes. Do your AV receiver and your TV have updateable firmware? If so, see if there's an update available for them.

Re: This display does not support HDCP

Thanks Mark i'll have a look at firmware updates.

I'm just a little confused that if when sky and my tv are connected directly no picture issues but when routed as normal through my av receiver my tv then has HDCP issues, surely if my tv has HDCP  issues it would have them no matter how the signal was routed? i have other tv's that are linked to the same sky box and they seem to work ok?

(I must admit i'm a bit of a novice on the tech stuff)

@Virgil+Tracy I'm no expert on HDCP, but my understanding is that everything in the HDMI chain has to be HDCP compliant so it looks as though the issue is with the AV receiver. From distant memory I think you might be able to work around it, if necessary, by using an HDMI splitter of some sort, but my recollection is very sketchy so you'd need to research it.

Re: This display does not support HDCP

Problem solved.

Turned out it was not my av receiver at fault (Having contacted the manufacturer).

I installed an HDMI splitter and within seconds all works perfectly.

Where do I get one of these splitters from please for my one problem. We are also unable to connect to our new BT router . We have gone into settings and are unable to scroll down to set up. All in all I'm getting very frustrated with Sky. Can you please help . Thanks

I am having the same problem, where did you put the HDMI splitter, was it between your sky box and AV Receiver

Re: This display does not support HDCP

I connected the splitter between the sky box and av receiver.
