Temporarily taking down our sky
We are having the house rendered and the chap has asked that we take down our sky q dish.
He said we can replace it two days later when its dry. Anybody have any tips? If we take it off the wall will we lose sky q and the broadband until it is put back up?
Are we better asking a sky installer to remove and replace it? Does the sighting need to be exact?
Apologies if the question is mundane and the answer obvious but I know my limitations. Scaffold is up so it is very easy to access I may add.
All advice gratefully received
Thank you

You will lose Sky Q channels as there is no live feed, broadband will remain unaffected so you could use Sky Go in the interim period.
You can call Sky but there may be a wait time for their installer to be available, you may be better getting an independant installer who could do it when you need it doing.

Very, yes, given its target is 22,000 miles away with the output power of a lightbulb. It's also sensitive on three axis (azimuth, elevation and skew) and so fairly impossible to align precisely enough without access to a signal meter.

Just to add a suitable signal strength meter the cheap ones sold on amazon/ebay are just not suitable a suitable one will probably be dearer than getting a professional to put the dish back and align it.
Taking it down is easy enough if you are OK working from a ladder and requires no special skills so you only need to pay someone to put it back.

@tuuti776655 to add to @bob1234 thought. Some one was asking on here the other day about removing their dish and a suitable meter for puting it back up again. One of our regulars told them that to get a meter that would be suitable for a wideband LNB would be around £299 so possible cheaper to either get Sky to remove it at around £65 then a furthwe £65 to have it put back again.
