We've finally relented and upgraded our TV (as it developed a fault).
We've moved from a Yamaha AVR & Panasonic TV to a Yamaha AVR & Panasonic TV 😉
Since this move, we seem to be suffering from the issue that I've seen reported on here previously where in the morning the TV/AVR is turned on by the Sky Box being rebooted (by Sky)/coming out of eco mode.
I know the "work around" is to switch HDMI control off. I'd prefer not to do this, however, in the short term I'm OK with that.
My question is whether the oracles etc. know whether Sky is looking into this as a genuine issue?
Is the issue that the Sky box is issuing an "on" command/outputtng an image even on a non-user initiated start-up or something else? In my lamens head, if it's a Sky initiated rebooted/coming out of eco mode the Sky box shouldn't issue an "on" command/output an image - therefore not turning anything else on. This is how the PlayStation works when turning it on via remote play vs a controller.
Obiously as the only change in our set-up is te AVR & TV, I can see how it might be a issue there. However, we don't get this issue with any other component in our environment (the PlayStation both 4 & 5 being examples) - the only issue is the Sky box when it's rebooted/coming out of eco mode - I don't know which.

I think I've found the issue. Of course I won't know until tomorrow morning as I only switched the settings an hour or so ago.
If this solves it. I have to hold my hands in the air and admit that it's not the Sky box's fault. Well it is as it's the one being rebooted over night 😉 I have to get a dig in somewhere, it's unnatural not to.
I don't believe it's anything to do with HDMI CEC at all. It looks as though my comment about SCART was apt. This new TV has an "old fashioned" option that none of our other Panasonics have had where it'll turn on just by a signal appearing on a specified HDMI port - nothing to do with HDMI CEC.
I've turned this all OFF. The HDMI CEC side of things is still working, as that's all controlled via another set of settings (VIERA Link in Panasonic's world).
We'll see what the state of play is tomorrow morning.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@AnytimePlus+On+VMYou could try turning the eco setting to active or none in your Q box however it may still do it as Sky send a reset signal at about 02:45 in the morning but this one does not seem to trigger HDMI control (CEC)

I thought I'd tried that, but I'll give it another go. I'll switch all boxes to 'active' and see.
TBH the 'eco' thing was purely me trying to be green by saving 1p of electric each night. However, considering the new TV is rated 'G' for energy efficiency I don't think it matters 😉

@AnytimePlus+On+VMTry plugging the box directly into the TV and see if you still have this problem when set to eco. It could be a problem with the receiver and not Sky.

It could well be.
As I said in my original post the change has been the AVR & TV and not the Sky box,.
I just like to blame Sky for everything!
There's obviously something that the Sky box is doing that triggers the new kit where as it didn't trigger the old.
I'll take a closer look at the HDMI CEC options of the AVR & TV. The Sky box is limited to on/off where as both the AVR & TV have many, many options to do with HDMI CEC that allow you to control a lot - maybe one of these is wrong.
I'll have to work up the motivation to get behind all of the kit to rewire it to get the Sky box to go direct to the TV to give your suggestion a go - so it won't be anytime soon 😉
If you watch it happen. It's the Sky logo on the black screen (and 3 white dots?) that wakes everything up. This is shown on the TV. Then when it's actually powered up it immediately goes into standby - so doesn't actually show the home page etc.
I've an agressive "power off on no signal" setup, so within 30 seconds or so it all powers down anyway. TBH the only reason I even realised something was happening was because the 1st time the TV was turned on the following day we were greeted with the "the TV was last turned off due to no signal..." message.
It's not the end of the world and worst case I'll turn the HDMI Control off on the Sky box - as everything else works just as it did before without issue. I kept with Yamaha & Panasonic as I've never had any compatibility issues with those and HDMI CEC and other devices (eg. Sky, PlayStation), so it's a tad annoying this time around there's an issue somewhere.
Some of this stuff has just become far to complicated 😉 I like to think I'm reasonably compentent in this kind of thing, but even I get stuck now. Bring back SCART 😉
