Static IP Addresses Lost after Reboot
I had problems with my Sky Broadband, and had to hard reboot (long press the reset button) my router. I have a number of IP addresses allocated as static, and once up and working again these devices connected via what were their static IP addresses. Around two hours later, these devices were not accessible ( for example my tablet points to a home automation hub via the IP address, the hub was not available). On reviewing the router, all the static ip addresses have been lost, and the devices had re-allocated IP addresses. There is now a large workload I have to do to re-establish my home automation system. Why does this happen and can it be prevented in the future?

Re: Static IP Addresses Lost after Reboot
Allocate the LAN IP address via the address reservation pool in the router interface for ensuring they don't change on a reboot of the router, and don't factory reset the router as you lose all these allocations.

That would have been a factory reset, not a reboot, so yes, you would have lost any Hub customisations. To just reboot, pull and then replace the power cable.
If a Sky Hub permits it, taking and storing a configuration backup would be a good idea.

Re: Static IP Addresses Lost after Reboot
Hi, Thank you for your reply, a few points and queries through.
(1) I had reserved the IP addresses for a number of devices at the router, up until now this had worked fine, resets of the router had kept these devices attached to the same IP address. This failed yesterday and now the reservations list is empty.
(2) What is the difference between the reset (short press), reset (long press) and a factory reset, i.e. is a long press a factory reset? All I did yesterday, albeit a number of times, was long press the reset button (following SKy advice), and this appears to have wiped all the reserved addresses.
(3) When the router came back online, the addresses did remain the same, it was only over the course of the next two hours things changed, do you know why this would be?
I have to say, in general the sky routers/boosters are pretty poor, they do not appear robust, and they are very temperemental.

Re: Static IP Addresses Lost after Reboot
A factory reset is a reset back to the settings hardware left the factory with, which by definition won't include any customisation subsequently set by the user.
The lag time would be the IP address leases on the client devices timing out: when they requested a renewal, they wouldn't find the pre-allocated address on the Hub.
