Re: Sonos Beam & Sky Q - Dolby Digital sound impossible to sync

There is a little cable about 2 inches wrong that comes with the beam which is an HDMI (from Beam) to Optical converter.  I don't post much (if anything actually!) .. but when I saw the hundreds of posts about changing delay settings and software updates and blah blah blah .... that when I found that this solution worked, I had to share.  The difference in the Sonos Beam with 2 satellites when it is taking the "proper" sound output from Sky is an order of magnitude more enjoyable than just using it in a simple PCM mode .. but I couldnt live with the sync issue.  But this method definitively solved it for my Sky Q and Samsung, hence my confident post!!

Re: Sonos Beam & Sky Q - Dolby Digital sound impossible to sync

Hi. Been reading through this thread trying to get my LG OLED55C9 TV,  Sonos beam (with 2 rear speakers) and Sky Q box to work nicely. I didn't have a delay, but couldn't get surround working with the beam plugged into the HDMI ARC port on my TV. I did get surround plugging the optical out on the sky box into the Sonos directly but this meant I had to switch cables if I wanted to use the built in tv apps.

In the end the discovery for me was in the sound menu on the TV. Plugging the sky box into an HDMI into the TV and Sonos Beam plugged into the HDMI ARC.  In the sound settings, select sound out, went down to HDMI ARC and made sure digital sound out was on pass through and eARC was turned on. Hey presto.

I've been through all sorts of recommended methods to attempt to sort this issue.
I've just purchased a feintech vax 04101 and the problem has been sorted instantly. Not cheap though but hey, neither are Sonos products. Shouldn't happen but it seems sky is the culprit
