Re: Software version update
@M3rk Mine turns on fine, xbox appears to be working but whenever I switch the TV off with the remote the red LED light goes off, but the screen is just blank. It feels like the screen doesn't wake up? Not had this problem before the update.

Re: Software version update
@Anonymous wrote:It's strange, people say that the tv technically isn't capable of producing a decent HDR picture because of the relatively low NITS level.
So I am watching the champions league on BT Sport Ultimate via my Apple TV box in HDR, comparing it to the Sky Sports UHD HDR picture is like night and day. The BT Sport picture is bright, detailed with vibrant colour, the Sky Sports UHD HDR picture is like watching through dirty cling film. Shows that technically though another source the tv is capable of a decent picture in HDR
Doesn't BT Sport use HDR10(PQ) instead of HLG? Reference white in HDR10(PQ) is 203 nits, whereas in HLG on the Glass TV reference white is around 140 nits. Therefore yes, the BT Sport picture would be brighter than the Sky Sports picture.

Re: Software version update
@PaulJ9875 Mine has this issue with having to be unplugged now periodically too. I reported it to Sky when I had the update early last week when they called to ask if the flicker was fixed, so, fingers crossed, they're working on it.

@MDL6 wrote:what is this about Nits? does it mean ultimately that these tvs have capability of UHD & HDR etc but will not show it properly because of a low Nit ?? anyone know about Nits?
NITS is how bright (luminance) the picture is. Each TV has a maximum luminance it can achieve. The Sky Glass TV apparently can achieve a maximum of 630 nits.
For SDR (standard dynamic range) that's more than adequate, as most people adjust the backlight to suit their viewing environment, and typically set a maximum luminance of around 200 nits. Although many go a lot higher.
For Dolby Vision, HDR10(PQ), 630 nits is adequate. Both these formats have a FIXED reference white of 203 nits, so again, the Glass TV can easily deliver a bright picture.
For HLG, even if you set the backlight control to 100%, reference white is going to be around 140 nits. That's because the HLG standard derives reference white from the peak luminance of the TV. To reach the same 200 nits reference white, the TV would need a peak luminance of 1,000 nits.
*Reference White = A 100% Lambertian reflectance white card.

Re: Software version update
I am going to ask for a replacement tv. The enhanced experience on my tv doesn't work still, the HDMI I would describe as flakey at best, I have had several occasions when watching apple tv, where the screen goes blank and I have audio only. I also noticed that I can very light images of the television picture when watching Apple TV thorough the actual Glass UI. I am not giving up on Glass but I am on this set.

Re: Software version update
@M3rk think I have managed to solve it. Local dimming was switched off so I have turned it back on and it all now appears to work again.

Re: Software version update
@Joe-Bow Check local dimming in your custom picture settings. Mine was switched off so I have turned it back on and it all now appears to work again.

That's not what the BT employee (DarrenDev BT Sports Expert) said on their support forum at https://community.bt.com/t5/BT-Sport-on-TV-Online-player-or/BT-Sport-app-Amazon-4K-Firestick/td-p/2092171/page/2

Thanks for confirming.
So @Anonymous that explains why the BT Sports picture on Apple TV is brighter than Sky Sports:
- BT Sports, using HDR10(PQ) has a reference white of 203 nits
- Sky Sports, using HLG, has a reference white of around 140 nits on the Glass TV.
