Re: Software version update

@Doc5907 No options to turn HDR off - just a choice of HD or UHD on Sky feed. No point have a UHD TV if I can't watch it 😭 Netflix is Dolby Vision, which works perfectly.

happy to give sky a chance to sort it. However, I won't be going past the 30 day return period, unless the picture quality is resolved or the extend the period to keep us dangling for a bit longer.

Its the only real beef that I've got with it. The playlist and ITV hub issues will sort themselves out and not ruining the experience for me.

Re: Software version update

i agree.  I would say howwver that i;m a bit disspointed with films as they seem to be rather "brown" looking and lacking in vibrance.  I know its not the tv as normal tv is colorful

@Nic.hill totally agree you shouldn't have to turn off features or downgrade to get a decent picture.

Unfortunately until Sky Sports change the way they deliver live UHD/HDR football ie. Changing to Dolby Vision or HDR10, then things won't improve

Re: Software version update

what is this about Nits?  does it mean ultimately that these tvs have capability of UHD & HDR etc but will not show it properly because of a low Nit ??   anyone know about Nits?

That's basically it yes. Sky glass is apparently 630 bits which could struggle with HLG HDR.

@tarbat could explain better than me.

Re: Software version update

In case anyone was curious the update hasn't made a bit of difference to the poor performance of the pucks. Still glitching out and dropping me back to black screens!

Re: Software version update

@MDL6  Nits is how you measure the brightness of a screen. So as an example, the screen on a digital recorder such as an Atamos Ninja has a brightness of 1000. Nits. Enabling the. Iewer to see the screen in bright sunlight which is useful when filming. A TV does not need to be so bright because it is usually in a room. The screen o& the Glass TV has a brightness of around 600 nits which is fine but is pushed when viewing content with high contrast rates ... this is not a problem for filmed content which goes through a grading process but live content can blow out the highlights and crush the blacks. This is where the TV is struggling... but it is in the processing of the signal as far as I understand it.. so using the Apple TV to view the content pre-processes the signal and outputs it with the highs and lows in a range the TV can handle.

i think that's how it works. Someone will correct me if I am wrong

Re: Software version update

Mine has stopped flickering but now requires the plug to be turned off and on everytime I put it into standby mode otherwise it will not come back on. Has this happened to anybody else and if so do you have a solution on how to solve it?

Thanks

Re: Software version update

@PaulJ9875  So my one needed a soft reset ( turn off at plug ) when I came down to check I had the update this morning, as it wouldn't come on. But I only needed to do it once after that it would turn off and on with the control.

I also quickly flicked the Xbox on to check that didnt crash the TV switching between the 2, and all fine at the moment 👍
