Oled retention is an aging process, it adds up cumulatively over time and canot be reversed as those pixels lit up age more than their neighbours, so even 1minute a day will add up.....
My 2016 B6 shows netflix logo only on an orange background

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more[removed] Sky don't use these kinds of screens as screen savers.
You'll only see this if you pause a screen with this content and wait for the blue bar at the bottom to go away (as it does after a minute or so).
You do get people on social media post things just to get a reaction or drive up some adverse comments.

"Whether or not I remember to turn the TV off is largely irrelevant but now it could damage my TV, as a result of a change Sky have made."
The above part is relevant if you want to make a claim for Screen Burn but seeing as you admit that you pause the tv whilst taking a phone call then you may need to go out urgently
I don't have an OLED tv but if I've knowingly paused the Sky Q box to answer the phone then nipped out I'm responsible for my tv not Sky
My LG tv allows me to turn the screen off or I can turn the tv off completely with the LG magic remote leaving the Sky Q box happily paused until I return.
And I often wonder why some TV manufacturers don't have a screen burn warranty now reading your post I've found the answer.

The blue bar goes away I think in about 15 minutes unless you press the back button.

@MorvenH wrote:@LGUser it is what you get when you pause the mini box... although I didn't take that image I know the person who posted it, and reproduced the same on our mini.
The amount of times I've paused the TV when the phone rings or some other distraction and forgot about it is not insignificant. When you do this in any of the TV's own apps it displays a screensaver with fireworks that keep the panel mostly blank and even then is very dim.
Tried the same thing just now on the mini box here and it displayed that image, full brightness.
Sorry, but I'm calling rubbish on this image you've posted.

As someone who watches a lot of Sky Sports - I am worried that I will get screen burn of the sky sports logo which is similar on all sky sports channels and always in the same place.
this is definitely something sky control.

My advice the best way to avoid screen burn is to not pause a program that you've recorded and are viewing. What I do is stop the program and then return and press Play. If it has gone back to TV and you have to go back into recordings it doesnt take long.

Not this specific example but noted that Rtings observed significant screen burn with CNN logos after a protracted period.
As a plasma veteran, I couldn't face the constant worry of permanent damage , and went for qled- and have never looked back.

I would not go with a Samsung given all the problems with them and that awful One Connect.

No issues with mine, the one connect box being one of it's excellent concepts. I went for the Samsung to also avoid screen burn, which does affect oled's whatever the reviews state, just search for oled screen burn. Even owners of oled told me to avoid them because of the content I watch on the avforum...

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreWell I'm a two times over Panasonic OLED owner for about 4 years now and no hint of it. I don't leave things paused for hours, but the lad has played videogames with HUDs for extended periods.
The QLEDs are decent. Not the same picture quality for movies imho but for sport, absolutely fine and yes, way less risk of image artifacts from daft fixed banners
