In the meantime will use sky go on my laptop. I also have BT Broadbrand which is and has always been plugged into my Sky Q Box and Previous HD Box, due to stability issues.

It's weird how Amazon and Netflix still work thru Sky though..??

For all those with recent posts about changing DNS to 1111 or 8888, this has been mentioned throughout for a number of weeks and for those that it works for, it was only a temporary fix, so don't get too comfortable, sorry.

I have now rang bt and the bloke was so lovely and tried to help but he knows as everyone knows it's not bt issue it's sky.

he even offered to send engineer out even tho my lines are all working fine and everything in my house is connected to internet part from my sky Q box and mini box. 
bt man said it's sky issue cause of their bandwidth they use 2.4 I don't really understand it all. He told me to go back to sky.

is everyone who having the issue has the hd package? 
as I don't now and I cancelled it so wondered if I got it back would it fix my issue or if I would still have the same issue not being able to download anything from sky channels but I can from bbc, channel 4.

my sky Q box is still disconnected from my router as no matter how many times I reconnect it it's just unconnects itself 10 minutes later.

Tried all other resets and settings changes but nothing worked.  Had seen posts saying to change DNS to 8.8.8.8 didn't work either.  Saw this post and was still dubious but it worked a treat,  have tested on multiple sky channel downloads and all worked straight away following the re start 👍

Yeah exactly that 8888 was a fix for about an hour for me and now don't even work

Same is happening here can't download anything at all. Keeps telling me download failed and item unavailable. Sky need to fix the issue

Change DNS to 1.1.1.1 worked for me after restart

I've been having issues for 3 weeks now. Can download all other than sky demand content. I've used 8.8.8.8 which worked for two days then failed again. 
defo a sky network DNS, im with BT also and never had issue before this.

@grog+arson @Just to update everyone that resetting my hard drive continues to prove to have been a reliable solution. Not a single download issue since. I've even reset my DNS settings back to normal.

In summary, like most people on this thread, I was unable to download any content - just kept getting 'download failed' message.

I chose the 'reset hard drive' option from the engineer's settings menu of my 1TB HDR SkyQ box (32B206) running software version Q180.000.16.00L. Although I lost all my content (not ideal), at least everything now works perfectly.

I wonder whether a dodgy software update caused a hard drive issue, perhaps encryption or copy protection related, that resulted in downloads failing?

Assuming that you haven't already done this, Google 'sky Q hardware versions', the top hit will take you to the right location, from there you can see the hardware types and their associated software versions, this may save you some wasted time if you are already at the latest version for your hardware. 😉

Thanks for the update @happydatsun this is still a little extreme for me though.

Having read this board and keeping updated with all the issues, people that are having the most sever issues seem to be running the Sky Wi-Fi mesh network, whereas I am able to cable connect my sky box directly to my router and hence I don't have network disconnects and with perseverance I can successfully download pretty much everything I want, so maybe worth considering for those that are able.

one thing to note about the above is that this situation seems to be pointing the finger at Sky Server bandwidth issues, ie. They are unable to cope with the demand, rather than a non-Sky broadband issue.

one thing for others to note though is this might be specific to your particular hardware running the latest software, but if you are prepared to take a chance, go for it, I hope it works out for you. 👍

I tried a complete factory reset and that didn't work, just means I also lost all pre-recorded content so now I'm even more stuffed 😂
