Not much we can do in contract. Just cancel on renewal.  This is the type of issue that companies need to earn your businsss. Bin them off

"Will you feel silly if you cancel Sky and find out it's BT's fault. Why not cancel BT and move to SKy Brodband?"

Are you on commission from Sky or something? Pls stop trying to exonerate Sky and blame BT - non-BT customers are also having the same problem, and those who DO have BT are not having difficulties with their internet in any respect other than the download failures on the Sky box, whether it's an old HD box, an old Sky Q box, or a brand new Sky Q box.

If it was simply a BT bb issue, none of us would be able to download to our laptops and phones and tablets, we wouldn't be able to post here, we would have probs with browsing, watching any videos on our non-TV devices, and it would thus be clear that there was a problem with our internet. Not one of us BT users have mentioned anything other than the Sky difficulties we're all having. We are NOT having problems with our internet!

The issue therefore MUST be that there is a technical problem with downloading directly to TV from Sky's boxes, which by definition means there is an issue with Sky. - Or will you try to blame it on the TV make, model, and serial number?

So, LGUser, will you PLEASE back off exonerating Sky at every imagined opportunity you think you see here!

You are not making any friends by insisting that it's a BT problem and jumping on every new poster here who says they're with BT as "proof" that it's BT's fault and not Sky's. You are cherry-picking "evidence". As long as other bb users with other, non-BT internet, continue to report the self-same difficulties that BT users are also reporting, it cannot logically be BT's fault.

Re: SkyQ Download Failed Item Unavailable

I'm with Vodafone, don't think it's a bb issue. Definitely an issue with Sky

Re: SkyQ Download Failed Item Unavailable

@Discombobulated3  We don't know for sure who's fault this is.. Is it Sky or is it BT? All we know for sure is that it's a problem.

Re: SkyQ Download Failed Item Unavailable

Well if it's BT then my identical issues must be completed unrelated as I am with Vodafone.

Having said that, don't most major bb providers (excl Virgin) use BT infrastructure, so there could well be something in that. Unlikely though, as most of the issues seem to be linked to downloading Sky content

Re: SkyQ Download Failed Item Unavailable

That's the important point here, the issue only seems to occur when trying to download Sky channel content. Sky have now sent me a new box which is due to arrive today. Anyone else had a new box following this issue and did replacing the box work?

Re: SkyQ Download Failed Item Unavailable

I was given a new box a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately it did not help.

Good luck though

Because more ppl are with BT as their ISP than any other company in the UK. It's a simple numbers game.

Added to which, there are posts on this thread from Sky customers who are with other ISPs and are also experiencing the very same issue. It is NOT confined to BT bb users.

@Discombobulated3  a bit of advise, I notice you replying to quite a few previous posts and it can be slightly confusing which post you are replying to. This is where quoting a post comes in handy. To do this:

  1. Go to post you want to reply to and click reply arrow next to like button.
  2. Just above text box, click on 3 horizontal dots top right which expands toolbar.
  3. Click on Quotation symbol which brings up person's post.
  4. Scroll down and reply. Use @ (their name) to ensure they are notified of your reply.

@Doc5907  Thanks 😊 I've been struggling to work out how to quote properly because I couldn't locate that function anywhere here, so I've started copy pasting the post I'm replying to, but I'll try the instructions you've given. Thanks again 🙏

Re: SkyQ Download Failed Item Unavailable

The fact they're still sending replacement boxes out says they haven't a clue what the problem is and i'm sure if they felt a solution was near a sky representative would have posted on here as they seem to have gone into hiding

@Supergooner My Q box was newly installed on Monday afternoon this week, so effectively a new box (unless it's been refurbished, which is always a possibility) and same probs.

Re: SkyQ Download Failed Item Unavailable

@Discombobulated3  Perhaps you need to read up on how internet connections do function. Just because you can download everything else from your BT connection doesn't mean that just because you can't download any Sky channel program then it is Sky's issue.

Unfortunately that is a very simplistic guess at it's best.

There are many different factors within a internet infrastructure with backbones, hosts and hardware in any connection from your house to another server and anyone of them could have been changed because someone somewhere has altered something, or a firmware update has been applied to some hardware that has altered howe it communicates.

There was a recent outage for a number of internet providers, BT - Three network, EE and Virgin on the 14th October. Facebook also recently went down but the issue was related to a third pary called Cloudfare and their hardware, here is a detailed explaination of what went wrong if you care to read it. https://blog.cloudflare.com/october-2021-facebook-outage/

These things happen but to just pin this one on Sky, because of anedoctal evidence, is incorrect.

Just let Sky sort this out. It will take time and I understand that it is frustrating for those having this issue, but Sky has stated they are aware of this and they will make every effort to resolve it.

It isn't LGUser that's "pinning it on Sky", quite the opposite, he seems determined to pin it on BT. I'm the ine querying that particular stance.
