Re: SkyGlass Awful

Don't forget after 12 months of skipping through ads, ITV will want £5 for you to keep that privilege

Re: SkyGlass Awful

Got my sky glass today and the picture is awful looks so washed out . My five year old Phillips 4K tv is way way better. So disappointed. Will be returning asap and firing up the old sky plus box and the old tv!

@JamesH1981 Yep mine is exactly the same along with an awful lot of customers, Sky need to seriously rethink this, I actually think they need to start thinking about recalls but there will be enough customers that will stick with it so doubt that will happen.

Hmmm! That will be an interesting one. Getting a Sky +HD subscription reinstated.

Re: SkyGlass Awful

I assume they must do it as some people don't have the new dish feed in apartment setups (or did they manage to sidestep that issue?)

Re: SkyGlass Awful

According to sky its only a very small minority are having issues, never mind the ones cancelling and returning. How can sky get away with all this misinformation and poor service

You can make statistics  read however you like, a bit like Sky get the least complaints it all depends on how they are recorded and if they think it is an issue, if they define an issue as a fault they are probably right as very few people have complained they are actually faulty.

Re: SkyGlass Awful

Hi @Everton1972

Can I ask why you are keeping the tv, I think that is the biggest problem with glass, the hardware just isn't good enough.

I'm not saying your choice to keep it is wrong, just wondering why if you are going back to Sky Q.

I've gone back to Q but can't see a reason to keep the glass tv.

And yet, here I am 12 days in with Glass and yet to experience a single dropped frame or lag of any kind across everything I've tested.

If you are implying this is an inherent fault with Glass, it absolutely is not.

Re: SkyGlass Awful

@Satele what is clear from the many pages of problems in this forum is that consistency is patchy at best. Whilst you haven't had problems many have . This could be either hardware issues affecting some sets  , differences in software versions at different stages of the build process or sensitivity to individual broadband speeds/settings.  My issue is a flickering screen and the quality being far worse than my 6 year old £400 Phillips TV. Glad all good with yours though.

Keeping the TV is a strange choice even if not going back to Sky Q as the quality doesn't justify the price but you do not want to keep the TV and have Sky Q as there are incompatibilities with the two. You will find yourself having to turn the TV back on every time you turn the Q box on and certain buttons on the Sky Q remote will see you constantly being sent back to the Glass home screen and other such Glass screens. There are a number of TV's which will give you a more pleasing picture and sound systems as good or better than the one in Sky Glass

Beat me to it. Given it's a new unit there are bound to be defective units out there and it sounds like some might of gotten some. I seen people before when they get a good unit they tend to forget that there could be a broken one out there.

Another possibility not everyone considers is the route the traffic takes to get to them. It's possible the traffic has ended up passing through a route that's got additional latency or even having packets dropped randomly for whatever reason like a main route failed or router failed. Not everyone can see these things because of how well the internet is built and can suffer some failures without anyone noticing but it does not mean the redundancy routes are as good as the main routes and stuff like that can affect people's experience when streaming.
